  • Robin and Lorraine Murray are the owners of The Red Schoolhouse since 1990. 

    Lorraine grew up just a few miles from the shop and historic Millwood, Virginia while Robin grew up on his family farm in Galloway, Scotland. Robin and Lorraine met at University in Scotland in 1981 and went on to marry.

    Building upon Lorraine's fledgling antique business in Scotland they decided to expand across the pond and had their first barn sale at Lorraine's family farm in Virginia in 1986. After the success of the barn sales, they decided to purchase the Red Schoolhouse in 1990.

    Living in the U.K. is a real advantage as the buying of items for the shop can be a studied process rather than a hurried one and fits in well with farming life . 

     
    Robin and Lorraine love coming back to one of Virginia's most beautiful areas to re-stock and to see family, friends and customers- old and new .  The couple are passionate about characterful, authentic furniture, decorative objects and artwork.
